[ He's already got a present in mind, but Ereshkigal's words convince him that more must be done. A bouquet, a gift, and an event, all intertwined together to form a memory Aventurine won't forget. A happy one he can recall when the days are hard. Something that'll give him a desire to live. ]
Your words have given me much thought. Thank you for the advice.
Once we return back to base, I shall pay you a visit to discuss the contents of the bouquet.
[ At first he intends to end the conversation here—except that he finally remembers why he messaged Ereshkigal in the first place and immediately doubles back to the chatbox in haste. ]
That matter aside, let us return to the original reason I contacted you.
If possible, I want to create a device that will help you regenerate mana quickly. However, as someone not from your world, I know nothing about this energy source. Do you believe my idea to be feasible?
[ ... ... ... ... ... Fudge. W-Why is he remembering about this? He should have forgotten by now. ]
I do not think so. Mana can be broadly divided into two categories. That the planet produces and that living beings produce. In a modern world where human ingenuity has grown beyond the need for gods, the former is thin and scarce. I do not believe it even exists here. The later can be harvested, to an extent. What excess mana my body produces, I store in my cage to use when the time is right.
Creating a device that could help me regenerate mana quickly would have to draw the mana from somewhere. The risk is too great.
[ Interesting. The energy faded with humanity's waning belief in gods? Was it influenced by faith then? But living beings also produce the energy... ]
All living creatures, or only those with sapience, that are capable of faith in the divine? How much does the average human produce? Is there a safe but significant amount that can be extracted from a human?
[ He's curious. Sorry Eresh, you're going to be bombarded with questions. ]
Sapience does not factor. All living beings produce mana relative to their existence. What matters is their magical circuits— How much of their mana they can convert into actual magical power for use.
The safe amount that can be extracted is determined by the circuits. If they have none, only death can extract any.
[ Ugh why why why, she hates having to explain the lore of her canon....! ]
In human stories, mages often need something to make use of their powers. A wand, a staff or a book. Magic circuits are just that - though they are a result of genetic.
Of course, these are the rules in my world. Here, our existences appear to have been adjusted. I can use my powers and so can many others, even though the fundamental laws of our systems differ. As such, any magic user should qualify as a Master here.
Any magic user... if that term is defined as an individual that can control a form of pure energy, then I would qualify, yes?
[ If he did qualify, that would mean his body could become a medium by which Imaginary energy converted into usable mana for Ereshkigal, if they were to contract in this Master-Servant relationship. And if that is possible, then it must be possible to replicate through technology. ]
Is there a method to verify my qualifications for that role?
A contract between master and servant isn't a simple exchange of mana, doctor.
During intensive situations, your physical health would be negatively impacted. The more mana a Servant needs, the more taxing it is. It is rarely a problem normally, but as a divine spirit, the mana I consume is far above average. And furthermore, outside party could easily perceive this link, painting a target on your back.
Most importantly, there are the command spells. Humans who decide to provide mana do not do so for free. They are awarded three command spells that are capable of temporarily helping or enhancing their Servants. However, those spells can also be used to give a command they absolutely cannot disobey to their Servant.
So trust is required for you to form a contract with a potential Master.
[ Because the only other thing that seems like a downside is the potential that he cannot supply the mana she needs, thus becoming incapacitated during a fight. Everything else doesn't bother him. ]
Then it would be best to pursue a method that will allow you to take mana without forming the contract. Are you capable of accepting mana from others without such a contract?
Were I to kill them, yes. I will other not stoop that low.
I appreciate your efforts doctor, but this is an idea you should abandon. What you seek to build has a name. We call them Holy Grails. They contain enormous amount of mana that are enough to keep lesser Servants together.
However, their very existence is a source of strife and conflict. Wars are waged around them and a Beast even used their power to try and incinerate all of humanity. I doubt not you would be capable of creating something similar to a Holy Grail - through more ethical means than the magi of my world - with enough research and time.
But the consequences... You are already familiar with them. No matter how pure your intentions, this would unavoidably draw attention. The wrong sort of intention.
[ He's learning a lot about Ereshkigal's world. A Holy Grail... he'd question why a grail of all things, but he's seen weirder worshipped as a religious artifact.
It's true that certain technology would be coveted and draw the attention of the wrong people. LILITH's summoning technology is one such example. If this mana is capable of allowing near impossible feats at larger quantities, then anything that could generate that amount would be extremely valuable.
He is not like the members of the Genius Society. If it does not benefit humanity, he will not pursue the knowledge. And he doesn't know enough to know if Ereshkigal's assertions are correct. ]
Very well. At your insistence, I will not pursue the topic any further. However, if you are aware of any agreeable method by which I can assist you with your mana shortage, do not be afraid to inform me. Your improved performance on the battlefield will be a boon to all of us.
