Birthday flowers for March are daffodil and jonquils. They're yellow, so I'd recommend something red to go with it. Red so happens to be the color of love and passion, So I think it's just perfect.
[ Oh no not the L word. Even reading that when it's used in proximity to him feels like something way too powerful for him to handle. ]
Well, I do want something to commemorate his birthday. But I don't exactly want whatever the default is, either. I'd like something a little more... [ Special. Thoughtful. Heartfelt. ] unique, if it's for him.
Everything means something, correct? Every flower, and every color. What do those flowers represent? What about the color yellow?
As for the suggested red, would roses suffice? Or do you have any opinions on other options?
We have a garden in my residence back home, but it's usually my mother or a gardener tending to it. So while I'm not completely clueless, I'm still not very knowledgeable when it comes to this sort of thing.
That's right. Different colors may have different meanings on different flowers, too. Add to this the implied meanings by putting different flowers and colors together... There's a nigh endless amount of possibilities. You say you are not very knowledgeable, But you still demonstrate more thoughts and care than most people buying bouquets.
Yellow tends to evoke positive feelings. Joy, happiness, warmth. But it is also related to friendship... And daffodils are known as the flower of unrequited love, besides being a birthday flower for March. You are correct that it's not unique enough - let alone appropriate - for him.
I would recommend keeping the jonquils as tertiary flowers, But paperwhites may be a good alternative to daffodils. It is a narcissus much like daffodils, but carries the meaning of unconditional love and faithfulness. They are predominantly white. It would be perfect, I think.
For the red flower however... Rather than go with a choice that holds meaning, I think it should be a choice you make because you think he'll appreciate the flower. Something personal - the meaning here is infused by you, rather than being innate.
This way the bouquet will have all three aspects: The traditional aspect (jonquils), the personalized aspect (paperwhites) and the uniqueness (your choice). What do you think?
I put thought into everything I do. But I've also never done something like this before, so of course I want it to be distinct.
[ He's already furiously googling things as he reads Eresh's text because he is Yzak and he craves to know things for himself. Joy, happiness, warmth ... all things that Dearka's brought into his life. Not that he had none at all before, but in comparison ... things might as well be pitch black otherwise, that's how much of an impact the other man's had in his life. And, well, he's always been his best friend and that's something that will never change, regardless of what the future holds.
The paperwhites sound like a good replacement for the daffodils; he wants Dearka to stay who he is, after all. And with him being Yzak of COURSE he has to drive home the fact that he's devoted to the things and the people he cares about. Especially where these feelings are concerned.
As for the final choice... ]
I think that's a great idea. Give me a little while to do some research, and I'll get back to you.
[ It's a short wait, because Yzak takes care of it immediately. The red color already sends one message, so he needs something else.
A harmonious bond, a balance, which Dearka brings to him perfectly, from personality right down to the color of their uniforms...
Cosmos! It's a beautiful choice. Very fitting too. A great choice to denote love and passion when they're red. But also other emotions such as joy, balance, harmony.
And you two work in space in your world, right? "Cosmos" is even more fitting.
I'll be working on it then. It'll be ready on the day of his birthday. It's cutting it a bit close, but the flowers will be even fresher and will last longer.
[ That also makes HIM feel so much more pleased with his choice. And his ego is so easily inflated. Look at him, mister perfect flower chooser, currently grinning like a smug little shit. ]
We don't just work in space, though, we live there. And have for all of our lives, as second-generation Coordinators.
Please let me know if you come across any issues or delays. Again, if there's anything I can help with monetarily, I will for this.
